Univers Typographic Design was a project that centered around selecting one typeface (in my case, Univers) and making several poster designs and an accordion spread book design based on one poster chosen. The whole project design was done in Adobe Indesign.
Like the name of the font, I decided to make typographic posters that have informations about the universe written. Two directions for the poster design was made. One based off on sci-fi movies such as Interstellar or Dune while the other based on retro screens in a minimalist style.
While both of the designs turned out decent, I found that the minimalist black and white style of the second poster fits better with a typographic design representation of the universe itself.

Design Spreads

After selecting the second poster to base off of, I moved onto the design of the spreads. For this part, the focus was on making various graphics and information layouts out of typography.
Reading through articles about the universe, selecting which sections work best, and converting the simple text into typographic layouts was a crucial step in the design.
Alongside text, designing fitting graphics while limited to using only typefaces and simple shapes was another area to handle when making the spreads.
I intended to deliver both the complex and expansive aspects of our universe with these typographics. The printout of the spread book was able to show those elements through the design.
